in the details, rests the Divine

“Thou hast made us for thyself, O Lord, and our heart is restless until it finds its rest in thee.”
Augustine of Hippo

“Leave me alone with God as much as may be. As the tide draws the waters close in upon the shore, make me an island, set apart, alone with you, God, holy to you. Then with the turning of the tide prepare me to carry your presence to the busy world beyond, the world that rushes in on me till the waters come again and fold me back to you.”
St Aidan

    Awesome photos… Such great detail.

These two quotes really sum up the Christian faith – we are made to be in communion with God but then to go out and share God’s love and grace and mercy and come back to be alone with our Lord. Being alone with God is the most precious time of my day for it strengthens me for whatever comes my way and gives me joy and peace. Thanks for this post Julie. I sense that the time away has given you some renewed peace and joy. Blessings.

    • Thank you Lynda–I thought the quotes were perfect—it was as if for the first time, my soul felt at peace–there in Ireland. And having come back to the madness and chaos of my life and life of the world so to speak, just knowing that there was / is a place, a refuge of calm and peace—is oddly enough…

    Absolutely wonderful.

  4. Oh I love the quote by St. Aidan. This post brought me great peace, Julie, as has this day as well. I know not why, but peace is always a welcome visitor. The Lord has been near and all has been well with my soul. I pray you had a wonderful day as well. Love and hugs, N 🙂 ❤

  5. Thank you Julie for sharing your poem, it’s so good to drew close to God, to share with Him our ups and downs or just to sit at His feet and learn.

You also reminded me Julie that I was planning to do a Post about Bees but got side tracked when I had the heart attack, I will pray about it again.

Bees amaze me, they work in a Team too each has a role within the Hive.

I thought of a song that reminds me also that we are the Family of God and need to be there for each other too.
