waiting on transformation

The call of death is a call of love.
Death can be sweet if we answer it in the affirmative,
if we accept it as one of the great eternal forms of life and transformation.

Hermann Hesse

β€œEvil is real
and powerful.
It has to be fought, not explained away, not fled.
And God is against evil all the way.
So each of us has to decide where WE stand, how we’re going to live OUR lives.
We can try to persuade ourselves that evil doesn’t exist; live for ourselves and wink at evil.
We can say that it isn’t so bad after all,
maybe even try to call it fun by clothing it in silks and velvets.
We can compromise with it, keep quiet about it and say it’s none of our business.
Or we can work on God’s side, listen for His orders on strategy against the evil,
no matter how horrible it is, and know that He can transform it.”

Beautiful words. Hope all is well.

  2. Loved Catherine Marshall as an author. Somewhere in the house I should have copies of most of her books.

    • I do too Don—I think I read all of her books when I was in high school—including A Man Called Peter, about her husband the pastor Peter Marshal—they were morsels to my early days of “hunger”

      • Gee, no wonder we agree so often. However, she was one of the main speakers at a conference held on the campus of USC in the late 80’s early 90’s. Not so good a public speaker.

      • I never heard her speak, which sounds as if it was a disguised blessing;)
But her writing spoke to my younger hungry self as it still resonates deep within

      • My favorite is “The Helper” which is a great treatise on the Holy Spirit without getting all weird on you. I always recommend it for new Believers.

      • I think that was the last book I read of hers…and it may have very well been her last…by then I was in college..ebbing and flowing…where I was introduced to Watchman Nee and relished in the early music of John Michael Talbot

  3. JMT was our favorite as well. We still play him from time to time. Saw him concert several times.

  4. Love the photo, love the quote by Herman Hesse, love the passage from Catherine Marshall, and love you!!! πŸ™‚ ❀
