And when they had come into the house,
they saw the young Child with Mary His mother,
and fell down and worshiped Him.

To whom and to what is honor placed…?
where goes esteem, recognition, respect?

The word honor as a noun dates to the 12th century and
to the 13th century as a verb.

It has been both earned as well as bestowed.

It sets apart one from both the ordinary and the average.

It denotes special,
It becomes recognition,
It is to venerate,
It is to worship
and it is to heap praise.

It is to set above.

Entertainers, politicians, leaders and athletes each receive accolades and honors galore.

And yet what of our Creator…

What of the author of all that was, all that is and all that is to come?

That unseen entity that is quickly forgotten and flippantly relegated to the periphery of consciousness?

We dishonor God most deeply when we give honor to people and receive honor from them.
We should give each other love, not honor.
All honor belongs to God alone in Christ.

Eberhard Arnold.

Truly an earth shattering thought….

And every created thing which is in heaven and on the earth and under
the earth and on the sea, and all things in them,
I heard saying, “To Him who sits on the throne, and to the Lamb,
be blessing and honor and glory and dominion forever and ever.”

Revelation 5:13

  1. David says:

The Golden Globes come to mind Julie – along with all the other award ceremonies where the luvvies tell each other how good they are.

    • and then decide to chide the world with a “what have you done by electing this incompetent idiot” sort of speech which in turn has the news media hanging on their every sugar coated word….
I just want to scream “GET OVER IT….and GET OVER YOURSELVES….as in lets work to make this all work….
Best not get me started on entertainers David 🙂

      • David says:

Unlike the Wee Flea (https://theweeflea.com/2017/01/10/a-cry-in-the-dark-dear-meryl/) the fact that Meryl Streep is in a movie makes me not want to watch it.

      • Yes, I read our wee friends post—excellent might I add.
Our news ran her speech, of course, and noted how moving and touching it was—as if to say…we won’t move on away from the fact that this guy is going to be president—
I want to scream, again….GET OVER IT!!!
He is and it would behoove all of us to help make certain that he is successful at it as it will, good or bad, effect all of us——why does Hollywood not grasp that little fact….???

  2. Excellence and truth!!! 🙂 ❤
