Child of my child, heart of my heart.
Your smile bridges the years between us…
I am young again, discovering the world through your eyes.
You have the time to listen and I have the time to spend,
Delighted to gaze at familiar, loved features made new in you again.
Through you, I see the future. Through me, you’ll see the past.
In the present, we’ll love one another as long as these moments last.
(you on the way home from the hospital almost one year ago)
Has it already been an entire year since I first looked into your eyes?
A year since I got that frantic call while standing in the middle of the grocery store…
“Mom, come quick, something is wrong”
I raced to Atlanta, traffic be damned.
Your vital signs had worrisomely slowed and so the doctors decided you were to come a few days
earlier than expected.
We sat throughout the afternoon and all night and into the next afternoon waiting…until
they finally called us back to come meet you.
There was Salmonella at 2 months, Bronchitis on and off…
up and downs…
A political office at Woobooville
And always love and joy…
(you with your Moppie who was looking rough after 48 hours of waiting)
Happy Birthday my precious child…
Love alwyas, Moppie
