an update with clarification to the bending of the cows knees

Here is the most recent comment from our dear friend Lynn Abbott
(https://throughinkandimage.com/)
whose husband just so happens to own and operate a Chick-fil-A!

I just knew we could count of Lynn to help set this record straight!!!
(I apologize Lynn for not touching base with you while putting this post together
but my life has been so upside down as of late that I confess I didn’t think about
emailing you after I initially read all the news here in Atlanta regarding this latest
attack on Chick-fil-A)

And so Lynn is setting straight my day’s post
regarding Chick-fil-A and its supposed disassociation with
Christian charitable organizations such as
The Salvation Army and the Fellowship
of Christian Athletes…

Here is what Lynn has offered us…
Thank you Lynn for shaking the truth out of this latest attack by the
master of falsehoods…

I just wish to let you know that the concerns about Chick-fil-A are unnecessary.
What many are concerned about is simply a matter of the news media giving out mis-information
and that information most likely resulted because a reporter didn’t understand Chick-fil-A’s
organizational structure.
Chick-fil-A runs its charitable contributions through its charitable branches–LifeShape and WinShape.
Both LifeShape and WinShape are Chick-fil-A and both those arms are administered by
Dan Cathy’s (CEO) brother and sister. And in fact, Chick-fil-A is still giving to both
the ministries in question through Chick-fil-A’s charitable branches, LifeShape and WinShape.
Thus, Chick-fil-A has not caved to pressure from special interest political groups as has been suggested.
I know that everyone is listening to the news media so I don’t blame people for not knowing this.
However, I do know because (as you know, dear Julie) my husband owns a Chick-fil-A (CFA) Franchise
and one of his very best friends is a Vice President for the Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA).
Indeed, my husband has helped cultivate a ministry partnership between FCA and LifeShape
(CFA’s international charitable branch).
And my husband will represent LifeShape in a few weeks on a joint venture with the
Fellowship of Christian Athletes overseas.
So, please, I humbly ask that Christians do not buy into the enemy’s attempts to
tarnish Chick-fil-A through the media’s mis-reporting and mis-information.
Love you! ❤

I’m glad to see this clarified. The media and certain special interest groups have gone to great lengths to try to tarnish Chick-fil-A. Their behavior is both pointless and petty. Over the years, most of the members of my immediate family have worked at Chick-fil-A; some are currently employed by Chick-fil-A. I have nothing but good to say about the company and the way it operates. J.

    • agreed!!!!—our local Chick-fil-A has had a wonderful working relationship with our two local school systems.
I was so disheartened yesterday when I read the and saw the news about the “giving in”—there was a good bit about it here from the Atlanta side since Chick-fil-A is considered “homegrown.”
It is a blessing to have Lynn’s intervention to help us know the truth and funny how none of the news outlets have seemed to find that truth—both local and national!!

CNN even posted an opinion piece about whether CFA should be blamed for “not going far enough” on the road to compromise. The writer was concerned that too many of the alphabet soup people were demanding more changes and that it would backfire–CFA and similar companies would stop making compromises. With that attitude out there, I’m not surprised that CFA is being quiet about still supporting the Salvation Army and Fellowship of Christian Athletes. Silence is probably the safest policy. J.

      • I think you might be right—we know what happens with squeaky wheels—those more silent ones go, in this case, thankfully ignored!!!

Wow, what schemes can be set in motion to hurt the Lord’s work. I was also dumbfounded but I did consider that the other shoe might drop because I thought the business was more successful since the persecution had started. Who would think about praying against attacks on those who look so successful? They do face fiery darts also. Praise God for those who have the skills to make money ethically. And bless them I pray.

    • Amen Oneta—I was so disheartened when reading and seeing the news about all of this yesterday–and shame on our local news outlets for not seeking out the truth…

Investigative media is long gone. No one searches for the truth. They are concerned with “ratings”, hits and going viral. Very sad, but indicative of end times.

  3. Very cool, Julie! I love that Lynn! Actually, I love anyone who cuts through the anxiety ridden memes sold to us by mediated reality and brings some facts and some call to the situation. Except….now we have to do something about all these Christians who seem to have Invested all their security, strength, and worldview into a bit of fried chicken! I am laughing, because while it is good chicken indeed, this is still not a golden calf. 😊

    • No but perhaps the mountain some are willing to die upon— I’m doing a follow up tomorrow on ‘what is truth’—I too like the chicken — but I do believe there are those on the left who are hell bent on crushing Christian businesses — so now it’s time to separate wheat and chaff — ayi ayi ayi as you often lament 😉

Well that is very good news indeed. Thank you Julie and Lynn for setting the record straight!

This is all so confusing and frustrating. I went and talked to a member of our church who owns 2 local CFA’s. He said similar things to Lynn, and I believe he was trying to put the best spin on things. I get that & I’m sure the MSM is complicit in blowing this up. But he also mentioned that he thought it was handled poorly. He thought they should have staggered dropping these two fine organizations. I WANT to believe CFA is doing the right thing. I have defended them over & over because the MSM DID get things wrong about the original “issue” of people with CFA’s position. But they have proven they serve all and employ all and do not discriminate. However, what they have done now IS to “discriminate”…because by giving boldly to Covenant House, they are declaring they not only do not hate gays, but support gays who are activist and who are all in for gay marriage. This saddens me greatly…I have a gay family member. I would certainly want someone to help this person if they were homeless, but there are other organization (including Salvation Army) that help homeless….ALL homeless including gays without going out and advocating for gay rights, gay marriage and probably transgender (for kids and adults). So sad that the CFA organization could not show the world how they could continue to help others without capitulating to the culture. They will not only hurt themselves in the long-run but also many other businesses trying to hold on to godly principles. I will probably continue to eat at CFA (at least locally) because I know the owner still adheres to Christian principles (even putting up a nativity set at Christmas time) and I also know that many people who go to work for them are good people who need those jobs. But I am profoundly disappointed in the leadership at the top of this once great organization. However, it’s still America and they have the freedom to take the easy road if that’s what they choose….undoubtedly, nothing they do will ever satisfy the extreme leftists who have been fighting them & will continue to do so.
