Happy 2nd birthday…or a life as seen through cake

The great thing about getting older is that you don’t lose all
the other ages you’ve been.

Madeleine L’Engle

(the festive table of the day /Julie Cook/ 2020)

Our lives have been forever changed because of you.

It began with a subtle announcement in September of 2017

Followed by an exciting sense of anticipation later in October as seen through a cake.
(baby shower)

Then came the exuberance of the marking of a milestone,
the first Birthday…complete with a cake in February of 2019

And so today, with the blink of any eye and the whirl of time, we now find ourselves having
moved from life with a baby to life with a little girl…as seen through the festivities
of a 2nd-year-old birthday cake

And always with your trusty sidekick is by your side…

And whereas you will not remember these early days of cakes and festivities or
presents and toys…
nor will you remember the early days of our handholding, our sleepovers, our kisses,
our laughter, our tender embrace…
I do pray, however, that you will always be filled with both joy and wonderment
not to be contained by limits or disillusionment…

I pray that you will always know that when I am long gone,
my love will transcend both time and space.

And I pray that you will always remember that no matter what,
God will always hold you by the hand and He will never leave your side.

(The first snow / Julie Cook/ 2020)

Start children off on the way they should go,
and even when they are old they will not turn from it.

So blessed with such tender beauty. Autumn and her sidekick look so much alike – when one sees past the hair. Cake pales in comparison to their sweetness.

  6. Tricia says:

Such a beauty that Mayor is. Happy 2nd birthday to her!

Julie! I haven’t been capable of reading much online since the end of November…and I cannot believe, as I sit here and try to get caught up reading some of my favorite bloggers posts, just HoW MUCH the Mayor and Sheriff have grown! Yee gads!! They are even more adorable since the last time I saw photos of them. ❤️

    • I knew you’ve been recovering, I even left you my email so we could chat more freely— but since your reading ability was limited during your recovery, you probably never saw it and couldn’t have responded if you want to— Dawn Marie please know you’ve been in both my thoughts and prayers these many months throughout this healing process as I pray each day brings you grater strength and fullness

Thank you, Julie! I am sorry I did not see your generous email that you offered. Your prayers have been appreciated and felt, as I continue to improve! It’s Amazing, this thing called the brain! I have learned to slow down (out of necessity) to focus on what is before me – whether in word or deed – and now I can honestly say this “practice” has well prepared me for what our World is currently living through. I’ve felt as if I’ve not had the “learning-curve” perhaps others have experienced and am much less anxiety-filled by the slower/restricted pace being mandated. Hugs to you for ALL you are doing for/with your family to help keep the ships afloat! It is a beautiful thing to read/listen to all the goodness being poured out….

      • Like I say,, between kitchen, the laundry room and chasing little people all over the place or picking up after said little people…pandemic, what pandemic????
