“We are placed in our different ranks and stations,
not to get what we can out of them for ourselves, but to labor in them for Him.
As Christ has worked, we too have but to labor in them for Him.
As Christ has His work, we too have ours;
as He rejoiced to do his work, we must rejoice in ours also.”
St. John Neumann
(Law Enforcement Today—images of Atlanta on fire…agian)
Satan rejoices…plain and simple.
This thought raced across my mind as I watched, along with the world,
the sheer horror of what had been happening in Minnesota.
A city of civil unrest and a city on fire.
All a result, once again, by another death of a black man in police custody.
Forget that he was in custody for having committed an offense or crime.
Ode to the choices we make.
Ode to the repercussions of our choices.
All the officers involved were immediately found guilty in the court of social media
as the Mayor openly wept on television over what seemed to be a near intentional
killing by some of his city’s police officers.
As the recorded incident spread like wildfire on all things social media,
the ire of mob rule was reawoken and unleashed upon a weary nation.
Pandemic…What pandemic?
A tidal wave of angst-driven hate rolled across Minneapolis, just like any
life-destroying tsunami does—it covered the land in a maelstrom of total destruction.
That same maelstrom, otherwise known as civil unrest,
came washing down to Atlanta, as well as several other major US cities…
even up to the gates of the White House.
It came with the same selfish looting, destruction of property, and raging fires—
all telltale signs of true unbridled anarchy.
The results of banal animal behavior.
It is what we have come to accept as commonplace when social media sends out her tentacles
of half understanding, assumptions, and soundbites.
I just happened to be in Atlanta babysitting when the city of my birth
was once again, set a-light.
(the irony of liberal based CNN under seige)
Atlanta is familiar with burning.
She is known as the city of the legendary Phoenix as she always rises up from
the ashes of death.
I’m not so certain she can continue doing so when it is now her own people
turning on her for no real reason, burning her from within.
But is it really her own people or is it the various organized militant groups
such as Antifa and Black Lives Matters?
Groups who have their own agenda and not the agenda of comfort and solace
to the family of George Floyd.
No…
the fires, the looting and the destruction of property are not showings of solidary
with the death of George Floyd, or for any of those who preceded Mr. Floyd,
those who were also killed at the hands of police officers…regardless of crime, resistance
obstruction or pure innocence.
Andrew Young, former Atlanta Mayor, US Ambassador, but more importantly
Civil Rights icon, lamented last night while watching the Atlanta riots,’
‘I’m thinking I want to cry’
And I think we all want to cry.
Because the truth in all of this is that the young people who are ranting and raging
across this nation, care not about Andrew Young nor of the sacrifices he endured alongside
Martin Luther King for the betterment for young black men and women, they care about nothing.
This boiling anger is not about justice or injustice.
It is not about civil rights.
It is not about a peaceful approach to wrongs endured.
It is plain and simple…about hate.
Hate of self and hate of others.
And one of the greatest crimes in all of this?
Our elected officials have capitulated…they have given into the anarchy.
They are allowing anarchy to play out before all of our eyes
as they lament their, and in turn, our appeasement to these
hate-filled masses—a yielding at all costs to the demanding and
voracious hate-filled animal within…naively thinking such capitulation will
satiate this monster known as hate.
Colin Kapernick, the infamous football player turned anthem kneeler,
has offered to pay for the defense of the rioters in Minneapolis
calling them “freedom fighters.”
Freedom fighters are our men and women
who serve in our armed forces…those who put their lives on the line
for our own lives and freedom…not the anarchists or looters, or arsonists…
We speak of laws, yet the rioters’ and anarchists we are seeing across our
televisions believe in but one law…the law of hate.
The Old Testament extolled the virtues of the Laws.
The Book of Exodus has a long list of Jewish Laws
Exodus 21-24
“These are the laws you are to set before them:
“Anyone who strikes a person with a fatal blow is to be put to death.
However, if it is not done intentionally,
but God lets it happen, they are to flee to a place I will designate.
But if anyone schemes and kills someone deliberately,
that person is to be taken from my altar and put to death.
“Anyone who attacks their father or mother is to be put to death.
“Anyone who kidnaps someone is to be put to death,
whether the victim has been sold or is still in the kidnapper’s possession.
“Anyone who curses their father or mother is to be put to death.
“If people quarrel and one person hits another with a stone or with their fist
and the victim does not die but is confined to bed,
the one who struck the blow will not be held liable if the other
can get up and walk around outside with a staff; however,
the guilty party must pay the injured person for any loss of time
and see that the victim is completely healed.
Exodus 21:12-19

“Biblical scholars generally interpret “eye for eye,”
which was derived from the ancient Babylonian Code of Hammurabi,
as a restriction on retaliation for personal injuries —
in other words, only an eye for an eye.”
(Politico)
That was the justice code of many ancient nations, in particular
the ancient Jewish Nation.
A nation that longed-for its Messiah.
When that Messiah came, He proclaimed a new law.
That new law was one known as forgiveness.
You have heard that it was said, ‘Eye for eye, and tooth for tooth.’
But I tell you, do not resist an evil person. If anyone slaps you on the right cheek,
turn to them the other cheek also.
And if anyone wants to sue you and take your shirt, hand over your coat as well.
If anyone forces you to go one mile, go with them two miles.
Give to the one who asks you, and do not turn away from the one who wants to borrow from you.
Matthew 5:38-42
May God have mercy on us all and turn the hearts of those who strive for hate…
Go and learn what this means: ‘I desire mercy, and not sacrifice.’
For I came not to call the righteous, but sinners.”
Matthew 9:13
Amen. There ought to be additional punishment for those who are caught destroying private property in the midst of a pandemic where economic ruin is already on the horizon.
Exactly— if only our elected officials would get that memo!!!
It is becoming more and more apparent that the real enemy in all this is a variety of groups bent on the destruction of our country by creating another civil war. 2020 has proven to be the death of our world as we know it. We’ve gone through impeachment proceedings, to COVID19 and now rioting in the name of inequality. What’s next? Maybe Jesus is on his way back.
I really need to research any prophesy regarding 2020– the numbers of this year and the Jewish calendar— let’s chalk this up to not a good year for wine— a very bad year
I’ll remember not to buy anything that was fermented in 2020.
You got that right—kicking off the soil of this year from my sandles as quickly as I can!
Now they’re destroying cop cars and looting in Philadelphia.
They slashed the throat of an officer in Jacksonville, fla— it just won’t end
I read a new blog a day or two ago, someone I had not previously visited. He is black, and the post was about how all the protests will not achieve the goals, because they really need Jesus. I thought it was so beautifully written, but I did not reblog. He could say such things, but I might be considered a racist in saying the same thing. As my wife keeps saying, I don’t belong here anymore. … Maybe I never did.
I echoed Kathy’s words the other day—just because I am white, does not mean I am the cause or enemy of black men and women, or any other race… and I am tired of being blamed or accused for simply being born as a white female.
So I suppose I’d be accused of the same—nope, I am not of this world.
What I meant was in telling black people what ‘not to do’ – protest, riot, etc. Just as Kathy said Live Matter instead of Black Live Matter – We all need Jesus and our problems here in this fallen world won’t matter once we are in Heaven with Him. If you can say that without raising other “flags” then we all ned to be saying that – especially today, on Pentecost – Max Lucado’s message this morning in fact.
I read some of that Lucado piece–and my post tomorrow will echo that same sentiment –again, that all lives matter—because we are all one in the eyes of our Father—This stuff is really making me nuts!! What happened, once again, is unexcusable, but for there to be blatant violence as a means of “retaliation” for another wrongful death is unequivocably wrong in its own right!
Where are the sane peope of the world????
If you are sane in the world today, you are going to keep a low profile. Stick your head up and a lot of people will be willing to chop it off. – Maybe sane people are in other places – just a thought though.
On a deserted island someplace
That’s even a better idea!
The enemy doesn’t care about skin color or people at all. He wants to destroy us all. And anyone who stand for what’s right will be attacked. What’s right is always right. Like you said, God’s laws. Wanted to add that I’ve been told that ‘thug’ is now considered a racist comment and that if you say it you’re actually saying the N word, in some circles anyway. Praying for people to turn to God.
Well a thug can be white or black, brown, red or yellow— growing up, the word thug was used to refer to mobsters— think al capone’s henchmen— the likes of whitey bulger in more modern circles of the mob— I will not succumb to being called a racist for calling out a bad dude as a thug, no matter the color— Antifa is full of thugs and if someone wants to call me a racist for calling out bad folks— well so be it — ugh!!!😑
I’m pretty ready for Jesus’ return for I am no longer home here!!!
I agree, just telling you what they said. Everything is crazy.
Oh I know you were, it just makes me nuts
“thuggery” runs rampant in many colors. But, hey, so do saints. 😀
A blessed reminder Oneta— angels as well!!!
😀
May we outnumber them by the millions!
I think the “normal” people are sitting back scratching their/ our heads in disbelief- in a state of shock
Well said, Julie. Im so sorry about this whole mess. The media, some misguided social justice warriors, our political leaders, and antifa, totally manufactured the crisis here in Seattle, like they always do. A few days ago there were some memorials, candle light vigils, and a few peaceful marches. They received zero media coverage.
“Antifa” by the way, at least up here, is nothing more then a bunch of mostly white kids living in their parent’s basement who dream of being revolutionaries, anarchists. They carry garbage can lids and like to break things, set fires. I call them useful idiots, tools.
It is such a shame that there are those who desperately want to express their sorrow and remorse while seeking important change but are overshadowed by those who seek only self centered mayhem— ENOUGH!!
You are correct on so many levels but probably the most resoundingly in the tears we have all shed. Watching the level of hate, which perpetuated the circumstance in the first place, propagate & gain strength has left me in exhaustible puddles. 😟
It’s difficult to even turn on the tv these days. So much of this is manufactured; by groups like Antifa and other militants, by those exploiting this to get free stuff and still by others who for whatever evil reasons just enjoy anarchy. And don’t even get me started on the media.
I think the biggest tragedy though is what people make up in their own hearts. They hear over and over again that we live in a “systemically racist” country and so that is what they believe and their world reflects that. A lot of fear and hate springs from this which is difficult to reason with.
Like you said though, the system is working. Nearly everyone agrees the cop was way, way out of line, he’s been arrested and will face charges and most certainly a lengthy prison time. What else is needed?
This mess is not about the death of George Floyd — which was a tragic senseless death!! That officer, along with his partners, was/ were the catalysts for this disaster— their actions, which were blatant examples of the disregard for human life, in turn gave life to these hate groups and the general criminal thugs- all of whom have jumped on the pain train and so now our collective Nation bleeds.
We need a Savior!!!!!
We do indeed Julie!
