the name that you bear

However, if you suffer as a Christian, do not be ashamed,
but praise God that you bear that name.

1 Peter 4:16

Names are important.
They acknowledge who we are…who we belong to, and from whence we come.

They are a marker.
Almost like a branding.

We are marked…for life…with our name.

First name and last name…middle names, an exception.

We may be either proud of our name and our heritage
or we can opt to feel ashamed.

If we claim to be a Chrisitan, as in a follower of Christ,
we have taken his name, Christian…little Christ.

It is a name we bear above our own family name.

We either stand up with that name or we cower.
If we cower, we are ashamed.

He shed his blood for you.
Be not ashamed.

The nations shall see your righteousness,
and all the kings your glory,
and you shall be called by a new name
that the mouth of the Lord will give.

Isaiah 62:2

(off to go pick up the granddog in order to babysit for a week.
Don’t tell, but I’d rather bring home the grandkids, but it seems
I’m relegated to caring for the dog…Que Sera, Sera–
Be back Sunday)

Julie, I don’t know what your family would do without you! They are fortunate indeed!! Have a great week with the granddog.
