I find consolation in the one and only friend who will never leave me,
that is, our Divine Saviour in the Holy Eucharist…
Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament is the most tender of friends with souls
who seek to please Him.
His goodness knows how to proportion itself to the smallest of His creatures
as to the greatest of them.
Be not afraid then in your solitary conversations, to tell Him of your miseries,
your fears, your worries, of those who are dear to you, of your projects,
and of your hopes. Do so with confidence and with an open heart.”

St. Damien of Molokai (1840 – 1889)

(Father Damien shortly before his death in 1889)

I don’t know…
can you hear the rising anger in my voice????
If not—I can speak louder.

I want to scream at the top of my lungs…“YOU ARROGANT IDIOT!!!”

But calling someone an idiot, I realize, is unkind.

Yet in this case, this person is proving to be a walking definition of the word.

Idiot–a stupid person

As in, someone who does not know what it is they are talking about.

In this case, that someone is the infamous AOC.
As in New York’s darling representative, Alexandria Ocasio Cortez.

The link at the end of this post leads to an article showcasing the blatant ignorance
spewing forth from this Marxist left loving,
elected official–that being Rep. Alexandria Ocasio Cortez.

This most arrogant and ignorant woman has most recently taken to her
Instagram calling for the removal of a statue of the Belgium born Catholic priest,
Jozef De Veuster, better known as Fr. Damien, because she deems him to be a white supremacist.

Did you read that????
A freaking white supremacist?????!!!!

In my obviously limited mind, a white supremacist most likely has a white hood on his
ignorant head…NOT a rosary in one hand while holding the hand of a dying leper with the other.

Having read this article, my blood pressure is currently rising so quickly
that I just might explode.
This woman has indeed lost her ever-loving mind!

Let it be known that I have written about this particular man before…
back in 2018.

Here is that link:

But in case you missed that post, let me catch you up to speed without rewriting that
previous post.

Father Damien was born Jozef De Veuster in Tremelo, Belgium, in 1840.
As a young man, he chose to enter into the life of a Catholic priest–
choosing the name Damien after a fourth-century physician, and martyr.
A rather prophetic name at that.

When Damien’s brother, who was also a priest, was unable to fulfill his duty
of going to serve the Hawaiian Islands, Fr. Damien volunteered.
Once in Honolulu and freshly ordained, Fr. Damien learned about the leper colony
on the island of Molokai.

He readily volunteered to serve the colony.

Leprosy was highly contagious and Father Damien would have known that it would
only be a matter of time before he too would contract the deadly disease—
yet serving the suffering was paramount to any concern of self or
that of self-preservation.

Fr. Damien offered the gift of humanity, as well as dignity, back to those who had been
looked upon as less than.

There is no greater pain to a human being than to be stripped of one’s humanness.
To be regarded as less than…even less than that of an animal.
And that’s what lepers were considered to be…the lowest of the low…
less than human, less than animal.

Father Damien saw past the disease, the deformity, the living death…
and saw but human beings…human beings who were hurting.
He brought back to these individuals the gift of hope…of love.

I won’t go on about the service Fr. Damien performed for hurting people.
I won’t ramble on about the lives he touched nor of the
lasting difference he made in the lives of those in need.
I won’t talk about how he petitioned the Hawaiian government
to allow for a school for the colony’s children or a hospital for the suffering.
I won’t talk about how he petitioned the Hawaiian government
to allow the people of the colony to form their own governing body.

I won’t talk about how he eventually contracted the disease–painful and debilitating
and yet he continued tirelessly to serve his flock.

I won’t talk about how there is no greater gift than that of a man
who is willing to lay down his own life for the betterment of his fellow man.

AOC wants Father Damien’s statue, which graces the halls of our nation’s Capitol
as a tribute to Hawaii, removed.
It seems that AOC believes Fr. Damien’s statue speaks of white supremacy and colonization
rather than the selfish service he offered to the people of Molokai.

When she and her ilk finally shut up and step up…focusing
not on politics or selfish agendas but rather focusing on personally
trying to help heal the sick, clothe the naked, feed the hungry…
working with their hands rather than constantly complaining with their mouths —
then that is when our nation’s true healing will begin.

Will she ever understand what is Truth?

The Truth being that our lives are not to be about supremacy
but are rather to be about that of servitude and of selflessness.

That our lives are to be about reflecting the light of Jesus Christ
and not that of the world.

And yet now they are burning not buildings in Portland…but rather bibles…

Where have I heard about book burnings before??

God have mercy upon our souls.

“I am gently going to my grave.
It is the will of God, and I thank Him very much for letting me die of the
same disease and in the same was as my lepers.
I am very satisfied and very happy,”

Father Damien wrote while on his deathbed to his brother.

I think she knows precisely what she’s doing, her audience is mostly ignorant of history and too lazy to investigate and I believe she knows too, that she infuriates her detractors. I feel sorry for the socialists-there longing for what they really need is replaced with the enemy’s lies that power prestige and money will satisfy.

I don’t think any of this is going to be resolved in my lifetime, but we need you and people who still cling to Christ and His message of truth, servitude and love. The silent majority will hopefully rise to the occasion in November.

I really hate to admit that I can’t understand why lightening doesn’t strike her down, and several others with her.

Have you seen the movie The Agenda? (It’s a eerily frightening watch.) The “useful idiots,” were Socialists assisting Communist aspirations…dubbed “useful idiots” by Lenin. The movie was made in 2010. AOC is indeed 2020’s most “useful idiot.”

What follows was supposed to be a comment. Then I read again the beginning of that last paragraph I wrote.

AOC makes me want to cry, I find her behavior pitiful, She is so obsessed with identity politics she cannot stop to marvel that anyone would so generously devote his life to serving others. Instead, she tries to arouse envy. Father Damien was a white male. So, he is automatically hateable? Apparently.

Ephesians 6 tells us how to stand against Satanic forces. How? It tells us about who we stand with, not about the things we stand against. We stand in the certainty of God’s truth, the righteousness of God, His gospel of peace, our faith in Him, the knowledge He brings salvation, and the wisdom He has bestowed upon us with His word.

Confronted with the armor of God, Satan flees, and AOC is just another blind soul who needs our prayers. She doesn’t know what she cannot see. We can only pray that she will see, realize her shame and repent.

Meanwhile, as you did, we can repeat the truth about Father Damien. When people like AOC condemn such as Father Damien, they remind us of why a statue like the one that memorializes Father Damien stands in the capitol. Once upon a time, Christians did not hide from the victims of disease or poverty or crime. The Christians who proceeded us risked much to care for the less fortunate, even those who were sick with dreaded diseases. AOC just frivolously spends other people’s money. When we compare her life to Father Damien’s, instead of a bright and shining life on hill, all we see is the wispy, dark and inky blackness of a dank swamp, for she behaves like a swamp creature.

Thanks Julie. As for the Democrats and their social programs. These programs are carefully designed to keep the poor poor and themselves rich. It props up the lie that they care about the poor and the Republicans do not care. Thus, the poor who will never be anything but poor, will continue to vote for the Democrats. As for the burning of Bibles, it is odd that the Dems and the media called Trump a Nazi. If we have learned from history, we would know the truth, but the Dems have burned those books too.

Julie, it is my impression, that you have been misled about what AOC actually wrote. I had a look at parts of her instagram post that were available without registring at instagram. From that reading, AOC is not actually claiming that Father Damien is a white supremacist. She is pointing out and critizising the overall selection of statues in Washington. Those statues are meant to represent the states of the USA, but on display you have almost exclusively white men. Almost no women, natives, hispanics, blacks. It is this _skewed selection_, that she points out as an example of a patriarchic and white supremacist culture of the past, that is still excerting influence today. The vast majority of role models presented are white and male, almost to the exclusion of anybody else.

You are welcome to disagree with that stance of AOC, but I would be saddened to see you pour scorn on somebody for an argument they never made.

    • I appreciate your comment and the fact that you took the time to look into part of the backstory to AOC’s latest complaint.

I understand that AOC is woman and a woman of Hispanic decent, who currently walks the halls of the Capitol and happens to notice the predominance of European male statues that have been erected in honor of a predominantly white male European history and heritage…of which is the makeup of our Nation’s formation.
We can’t help those facts…nor should anyone try to erase them.

And no, that is not necessarily who or what we are today, but it is our root system so to speak…that from which we have grown and sprouted.
Our Nation was founded by yes, white Europeans— and yes, that founding was by many white European males (along with females) who are indeed now recognized in the Capitol– as well as in a myriad of parks, courthouses and schools across this country.

All of that just happens to be because they are the ones who came to this continent and began to set in motion what would eventually become the United States.
We can’t pretend that all were perfect men, women or founders… yet they were, and are, our cornerstone as it were.

It is not lost on me that AOC chose to stand before Fr. Damien’s statue while bemoaning European white male colonization—
Fr. Damien had nothing to do with the colonization of forgien lands or of the islands of indigenous peoples—
He did however go to a colony–but it was to serve and not to claim, invade, or eviscerate.

Hawaii is proud of the role Fr. Damien played in her history—and so they should be.

  8. Tricia says:

Father Damien is a Saint to the Hawaiian people and AOC is a fool to Americans. The more she speaks, the more clear this becomes.

  9. These are truly the end times, Julie. But take heart. He has overcome the world (John 16: 33). And Fr. Damien is already in His presence, as we will one day be. ❤

  10. I’m sorry for the madness of the world, Julie. AOC reminds me of one of those middle school mean girls in the cafeteria. I wish somebody would rub mashed potatoes in her hair and stuff her in a locker somewhere. We can certainly pray for her and we probably should. I just think we should trip her first. 🙂

    • You always bring a smile to my face— I have a plaque by my back foot with a Celtic prayer— it asks that God will help me to turn the hearts of my enemies and if their hearts can’t be changed then turn their ankle so I may know them by their limp— lots of limping abounds 🤩

I have said it many times there is no cure for S.O.S. (stuck on stupid) disease. Unfortunately many of our elected representatives seem to have contracted it.
