a thought that stops you dead in your tracks…

Can you stop reading this right now and pray for one minute?
If you cannot, you are in serious trouble;
you are addicted to work and action as to a drug.
You are a slave.
If you can but you will not, you are in even more serious trouble;
for that means you do not love God as much as you love whatever else you are doing.

(the beautiful housewarming paper gift from Beverly over on https://moreinkpleaseblog.com)

The words from yesterday’s thought for the day pretty much stopped in my tracks.

As in…
Stop.
Now.
Do not pass go.
This is truly a matter of life and death.

Most mornings, I groggily drag myself to the kitchen to put on the coffee.
I’ll click on those early morning thoughts and verses of the day for a quick spiritual
kick off to the day…all the while walking as I
skim over the words that I file away for later in the day–
hoping I will be able to recall and reflect when time allows.

Now the questions remains…does time really allow?
Will we allow for the time…
Or will we simply be a slave to the world?

I suggest you…me, we us, stop what you’re/ we’re currently doing and really think
about conversing with your / our Creator…conversing, talking, communing…
what most of us simply call prayer.

Prayer and or praise…

Is anyone among you in trouble?
Let them pray. Is anyone happy?
Let them sing songs of praise.

James 5:13

    Stop. Hmmm. When you pray as you walk around, doing other things. Stopping sounds like a way of hitting the reset button, and saying, “God, my day may have gotten sidetracked along the way and I have ended up in a place where I should not be. No do-over, but a fresh start from here.” I like that idea of stopping, even if it is to reassure ourselves we have been on the right track all along. I have been singing along with David Wesley this morning – Victory in Jesus, sung with the beat and rhythm of Don’t Worry, Be Happy. So, I hope my mind is still on the right track. Have a blessed day.

    Putting our focus on God is so important right now. We can’t find hope in our political elite. We can’t rely on family or friends to turn things around for us. The only One who is consistent in our lives is God. I’m trying really hard to stay away from worldly things this year and put my focus on the one thing needful. It’s not easy, because we’ve become so numbed by the media, social media and instant/fake news. We need to step back and look at the big picture. Where will I be when I die?

  4. Ha! Good word. I am totally, “addicted to work and action as if to a drug.” The Lord is always speaking to me about the need to just pray, just let go, and let God.

    Pause, “taking time”, “spending time” I like to say “investing time’ He’s got this!

    You right. This is a powerful thought and a call to action in prayer. Thank you.
