things keep smelling fishy

“If all politicians fished instead of spoke publicly,
we would be at peace with the world.”

Will Rogers

(Red snapper season 2015 / Julie Cook)

I think we’d all agree that so very much nowadays smells fishy—
as in it actually smells more foul than fishy…
However this little post is not about our current state of affairs…
rather this is about something each of you bloggers might
need to investigate.

You know how we all click “follow” in order to “follow” a blogger…
We’ll click the follow button thinking a particular blogger’s posts will
the show up in our Reader…

And of course that is how it should work.

If you are not a blogger, well, you might be following via email.
Yet, no matter…it now seems as if that ‘follow’ is not exactly a guarantee.

In the past couple of months, blogs I thought I was “following”
oddly disappeared from my reader—meaning they no longer showed up
for me to read.

In turn, I might often think, “well…they must not be posting
anything right now…”
but the reality is that they are busy writing and posting and I was /am,
for reasons beyond my soul, missing out on the latest offerings.

Why is that you ask?

Good question.

So my only suggestion.
Periodically check to make certain that you are still “following” those who
you think you’re following.

This has happened to me at least three or more times in the past 6 months.

Well, I’m not exactly certain…but odd none the less.

“No one man can terrorize a whole nation unless we are all his accomplices.”

Julie, I’m so glad you’ve noticed too. It’s happened to me several times. It looks as if I’ve unfollowed someone as I’ve had to go to their site and follow again. Also, when using my iPhone to read versus computer~if I choose “like” and then write my response, the like is gone. If I respond I have to go back and check that I actually liked it again {or keep telling myself “like” it AFTER you comment!}. Lots of things are fishy!! But I’m glad there’s nothing fishy about you friend. 🥰💛❤️ Happy August! May blessings surround you!

    • One thing I’ve noticed Karla is if I read a post on my phone and it links to the original on a different platform I can’t “like” the post— but if I’m on my computer there’s not a problem—
And there are several sites I’ve followed over the years and the folks have died yet I just keep the sites—and nothing ever happens to those sites— it’s the sites of the active living that keep disappearing-.
      Crazy stuff!!
Happy August to you as well!!!! 😘

It’s all crazy! I could say it “sharpens my skills” but technology, right now, is dulling my good sense. I’m a bit overwhelmed as I get closer to wanting to get my kid’s book released! And I feel the pressure from all things and all anyone can do is count their blessings and BREATHE–that’s what I keep telling myself! August will be a busy month! 🤍

      • here’s to smooth sailing for publication!!!!

When you really think about it I don’t understand how anything ever gets where it should.

Oh what a tangled web we weave, the internet does oft deceive. I’ve noticed a change in stats over the past couple weeks – plummeting from 200 views in a day to 13. What’s up with that? I’m not writing differently. Maybe all my followers are on vacation. Or maybe it’s a plot to make me upgrade to a more costly site. I don’t care. The web is a scary place to dwell. It might be tantamount to hell.

  5. things keep smelling fishy. I just seasoned pollack with balsamic vinegar and garlic.

  6. You have lots of company. I recently found myself unsubscribed from a bunch of sites I used to be subscribed to. WP frequently logs me out of my account and forces me to log in all over again. Many other WP users have had similar troubles. Isn’t technology fun?

I have accidentally clicked the Following button, unfollowing someone. But my question is that some, like you, post something and I get an e-mail while someone like insanity bites never shows up. Strange. Then again, I get more e-mails than I have time to read.
