“Only after all the noise has spent itself do we begin to hear
in the silence of our hearts, the voice of God.”
A.W. Tozer
(Cades Cove / Julie Cook / 2021)
A man’s soul is as full of voices as a forest;
there are ten thousand tongues there like all the tongues of the trees:
fancies, follies, memories, madnesses, mysterious fears, and more mysterious hopes.
All sanity in life consists in coming to the conclusion that some of those
voices have authority and others do not.
G. K. Chesterton
quoted in Dale Ahlquist’s book The Complete Thinker
Love the quotes and the photograph Julie. Shutting out the noise can be a challenge at times.
Oh David, it is oh so hard!!!!
I have not yet figured out how to shut out the noise, but I seem to have perfected the art of filtering it.
You my friend, crack me up— I love your tell it like it is approach to all this current madness!!!!
Beautiful picture and quotes my dear friend. This morning, after a night of tossing and turning, I briefly turned on the TV after my study in the book of James. Quickly I shut it off. I’m not trying to bury my head in the sand. But I know the voice that I must hear. It’s in complete silence that I hear it the best at times. I can’t stay in his will if I waiver in all the wailing around me.🥲❤️💛
Thank you Karla…I am yearning for the silence of listening intently
It’s my pleasure, Julie. Me too.
☺️
Love both Chesterton & Tozer… Hear that Bose has a awesome set of noise cancelling headphones, maybe said headphones can cancel culture as well?! 😀 Love & hugs from GW
