You start out giving your hat, then you give your coat,
then your shirt,
then your skin and finally…
your soul.
Charles de Gaulle
(the gathering storm on a southern summer’s night / Julie Cook / 2015)
Our prayers, once again, are offered up to our ally and friend…to the nation of France.
To the French people, especially the citizens of Nice, we offer our hearts in solidarity.
It is apparent that there is a war raging.
A war that is being waged and carried out by a hostile and ever morphing Islamic state.
A war that is apparently one-sided.
For you see, the Western World has yet to acknowledge it is being attacked, relentlessly.
Once upon a time…
In a different time and place…
there was a lone voice…
A lone voice that was relentless in sounding an alarm to the gathering storm clouds.
Yet no one wanted to listen.
No one wanted to hear the hard truth being offered by this lone voice…
And so the voice was ignored.
By the time the storm had come, raged and then passed…
Well over 60 million people had lost their lives.
It appears that today, we continue not to listen.
Be strong and courageous. Do not fear or be in dread of them,
for it is the Lord your God who goes with you.
He will not leave you or forsake you.”
Deuteronomy 31:6
But if those stupid Americans would just enact some gun laws, that crazy fellow would never have driven his truck into that crowd. I fear you are mistaken, Julie. The issue is not Islamic terrorists, it is all of those crazy Americans and their guns. Sheesh, wake up will ya?
🙂
perhaps we will see legislation today Wally banning all trucks–not just assault trucks but flat beds and even pick-ups —
Well, I could never agree to that. Pick ups are clearly for personal use and defense.
well we can’t ban a few without banning all—you know it doesn’t work that way 🙂
Well, obviously you are just a moronic hack for the NTA(National Truck Association).
🙂
And..how absurd shall we make this entire conversation? LOL.
obviously—as we do own a lovely chevy pick-up–so my agenda is indeed obvious 🙂
Well, I am stumped now. I have no equally absurd answer to give any more LOL. My imagination has frozen up. But, I think somewhere in all of this, we made a point.
Truly 🙂

Thank you dear friend –blessings for a peace filled evening
You’re very welcome Sister and likewise for you and yours!
Ha! Wally and Julie, you gave me a good laugh this AM. Unfortunately the joke is more than true. Soon they will be banning toothbrushes and hair combs. What will be next? We have to laugh. It’s simply idiotic. Julie your post was spot on. We can’t continue to ignore this insidious force. It’s already invaded our borders and before we know it, we could be wiped off the face of the earth, because of leadership that won’t recognize the problem.
thank you Jarjar—it is the absurdity of it all, is it not, that is the most maddening!
This is a genius post Julie, as always love your insight
I wouldn’t say genius Melissa–just truth that seems difficult for most to realize and grasp
You wouldn’t but I would 😁
Thank you so much for articulating thoughts that have been weighing heavily on me. I’m getting to the point where I don’t even want to look at Facebook, Twitter or the News for fear of reading another horror story. I am certain that I am not alone. I just wish the leaders here and across the pond would start calling a spade a spade and stop ignoring the virus plaguing our world from Muslim terrorists and greedy extremists.
“Those who fail to learn from history are doomed to repeat it.”
I appreciate your heart spoken words.
I don’t know what it will take for our leaders to ever understand…and yes, the quote is sounder more prophetic every day
Very well said Julie, I appreciate you wading in to what shou;d nopt be a controversial subject and speaking truth. French President Hollande has been pretty good about calling out the root of this cancerous evil, radical Islam. Wish our own PResident would get on board.
Thank you Tricia—it is the most frustrating thing–I agree with you that President Hollande seems to understand the root cause—yet sadly for much of Europe the roots are planted and running very deep in each country as the citizens have stood by for decades watching—and now the plant begins its ugly bloom
Guns don’t kill people; people kill people. And they will always find a way to do it even if one were to take the guns away. The evil is in men’s hearts, and we as a nation under a decent president need to acknowledge and go after this evil that threatens us and the whole world. Love, N
